Well our precious baby is now 1. Its just amazing watching her grow. As everyone says it just gets funner and funner. She is so fun to watch play and she is learning so much so quickly. Its amazing how fast she picks up on things like sign language and remembers them. We have taught her please, more, and pray. She also loves to clap and raise her arms in the air when she is all done eating.
Here are some nicknames she has acquired over the first year of her life:
Maddie Gail, Stinker, Cubbers, Chubolina, Mamas,Puppers, Peluda, Chiple(spoiled) Patso(this is one Oscar calls her, it was orignally fatso and I said that sounded way too mean to call her, so he came up with patso)
She is such a little ham. She likes to make sure everyone is watching her when she is doing something. She likes ALL the attention! She loves to bounce up and down whenever there is any kind of music on or stand and move to the beat. She LOVES for me or anyone to sing to her. I mean if she is fussy she will immediately stop when I start singing. She loves songs with motions. She likes anything cold-the fridge, ice, water, juice... She likes to hug on all her stuffed animals and pat them on the back-its very cute. Its also really sweet when she does it me or Oscar. If we let her, she could probably be content with paper and electronics all day long. She also loves water and getting wet!
She is cutting 3 more teeth making this a total of 11 in all! This round has had its fussy days so we have been using lots of orajel! Maddie is on all whole milk, but we are still working on drinking it out of a sippy cup and not a bottle. She likes drinking out of a sippy cup, just not always her milk. She can stand alone without holding onto anything and push herself up like that, but has not tried to take any steps yet-she seems sooo close though!
We went to her 12 month checkup yesterday. Her stats were:
23.5 pounds-80%
30 inches-75%
Dr. Riser said she looked healthy and was doing great. We are so blessed that she has been a healthy baby. This past year she has only had 2 viruses and has had no ear infections! She got 3 shots and got over those quickly, but then we had to go to the lab and get blood drawn out of her arm! I saw the nurse looking at her arm veins and I said wait aren't you supposed to just prick her finger? She said if we can't find a good vein then we will do the finger prick. So Oscar had to hold her down while I turned the other way and cried! It made it harder b/c she knew something was about to happen and started really crying. Here is she is in the car, you can see here little bandage from the blood that was drawn:
Isn't that just pitiful!
Dr. Riser e-mailed me and said her hemoglobin levels tested all good!
Madelyn came out in a big way one year ago as a 9lb 6 oz baby girl and she is still coming at us in a big way everyday we get to spend with her. God blessed us with a gift from Him to raise up. Its a big responsibility, but only with His guidance and wisdom can we do it.
Madelyn,
Mommy and Daddy love you SOOOO much and we are SO blessed to have you as our daughter. You have given us so much joy over the past year of your life. You are so fun to play with and so sweet to rock. We cannot wait to see what the future holds for you. You are the most beautiful and precious little girl-We love you!
